Rehabilitation of three sections of the Pulaski Skyway in Newark & Jersey City. Structural rehabilitation included thousands of complex steel repairs and retrofits, temporary jacking systems, complete replacement of one concrete bridge pier, one steel bridge pier, 2,500 CY of concrete footing retrofits and replacing 20 large bridge bearings.
Drove over 5,000 LF of micropiles to support both temporary and permanent bridge structures, with the deepest piles exceeding 70 LF. Each installation presented a challenge due to low headroom restrictions and their proximity to existing structures and an active Conrail freight track.
Installed 26,000 SF of precast bridge deck including the use of Ultra High Performance Concrete and the 2,200 LF of decorative railings. Complex utility relocations and installations including a 30” high pressure gas main. Associated highway lighting, drainage improvements, curb, sidewalk, and paving.
