Reconstructed Rt. 35 from Island Beach State Park to Ortley Beach, which included an improved drainage system with water quality chambers and check valves at all outfall pipes to prevent tidal or storm surge backflow, and approximately 100,000 LF of utility installations. Additionally, we constructed five underground pump stations.
Due to project’s location on a barrier island and in confined residential areas combined with the required depths of excavation, we developed a coordination strategy and implemented a dewatering and cofferdam effort. In addition, the work needed to be performed on an accelerated schedule to minimize impacts to the summer tourists.
