Union Paving constructed the approach spans and ancillary work to complete a new interchange. The work included: road and embankment construction; thirteen cofferdams ranging in depths from twenty-five to thirty-five feet; installing submersible pumps for dewatering and also capturing water for mass concrete cooling; H piles; a new bridge over Hackensack River; retaining walls; sewer, water and electrical utilities; excavation, and disposal of contaminated soil; highway lighting; and landscaping.
