Union Paving constructed a stormwater pump station and performed all necessary ground improvements. Given the project’s location adjacent to the Hackensack River, we dealt with complicated dewatering logistics requiring a sheet pile cofferdam, deep wells, sumps, and wick drains. We also installed an automated data acquisition system with vibration monitoring, monitoring wells, slope inclinometers, piezometers, deformation monitoring points, and deep benchmarks to monitor subsurface impacts. Other scopes included: the jack and bore of a 66” steel casing under the existing railroad and across Route 7, earthwork, drainage, pipeline relocation, grading, paving, and disposal of regulated materials.
